William Lloyd Garrison

"I am in earnest; I will not equivocate; I will not excuse; I will not retreat a single inch; and I will be heard." -- William Lloyd Garrison

The Wikipedia article on Garrison has a longer excerpt from the anti-slavery newspaper in which this sentence first appeared. The typography there reflects better the thunder that Garrison intended:

I am in earnest – I will not equivocate – I will not excuse – I will not retreat a single inch – AND I WILL BE HEARD.
